In the early morning, the castle gardens were always deserted. The grass was damp and a light fog hung between the carefully tended plants. The sun was just rising, casting an orange glow on the two girls who quickly made their way through the empty garden.
Suddenly out of nowhere a woman seemed to appear on the other side of the field they were crossing but neither of the girls changed their pace.
The woman reached the middle of the field and raised her hand into the sky and started chanting. With a deafening sound, the ground began to shake and suddenly trees started to shoot out of the ground like they had all at once decided to skip the years of growing and just come out fully grown. Within seconds they were surrounded by a forest. The three women met in the middle of the field as the sun was beginning to crest over the land.
“Good morning master Dahirra!” Selena said cheerfully as the sun revealed her. Selena is a silver Inu chaiura with beautiful red hair, which she had braided and pulled high on her head. With beautiful blue eyes that were as dark as the deepest part of the sea. She was wearing her training gi that was light blue in color with a deep blood red juban underneath and a silver obi wrapped around her waist, black boots on her feet, and her selected weapons on her person.
“Hai, good morning master,” Eris said coming up behind her sister. Eris a silver Inu chaiura like her sister but she has medium length lilac-colored hair put up in pigtails. She was wearing her training gi that was moss green in color with a steel blue juban underneath with the same colored obi wrapped around her waist, black boots on her feet, and her selected weapons on her person.
Neither of the girls was taken off guard by the sudden outburst of nature around them. They had both seen their master and their own mother do the same chant many times, though it never failed to impress them.
“Good morning girls,” Dahirra said with a smile. Dahirra is a Neko chaiura with long deep blue-green hair that reached her lower back, pale skin, bright yellow-green eyes, blue on her eyelids, and a long fluffy blue-green cat tail. She was wearing her own all red training gi as she bowed to the girls.
“Are you two ready to begin?” She asked and both girls nodded. “Good, then let me see what you’ve learned since the last time we’ve met.”
“Yes, master.” Selena and Eris said as one. They both bowed respectfully to their master and then turned to each other.
For a short moment, they looked at each other in the eye and it seemed as though an unspoken message passed between them. Then they both nodded, and jumped up with incredible force, shooting high into the air. Within moments they had disappeared into the forest.
“Are you ready for me sister?” Eris called out, trying to determine where Selena was hiding.
“Definitely,” Selena replied her voice close but not close enough for Eris to find out where she was.
Eris knew that Selena was way too clever to reveal her location. So if she wanted to find her sister, she’d have to do it the hard way. Eris took out her small staff that, at her touch, grew three sizes bigger till it was a respectable stick. She jumped down from the branch she’d been squatting on and landed softly on the hard soil. With a swift movement, she stuck the staff in the ground, sending out bits of power to help her locate Selena.
Not too far away from Eris, the little shocks reached her sister. Selena felt the sharp and painful shock of Eris’s power colliding with her own. She winced but stayed silent. She wouldn’t give her location away that easily. She groaned softly as two other shocks hit her.
Then all of a sudden an idea formed in her head. Slowly she savored the thought, letting it sink in and making certain that it would work. Then she smirked; this was going to be good.
First, she would do exactly what her sister wanted her to do; she let go of some of her powers. She could feel them seeping through the earth and hovering through the air. Eris would feel them, and hopefully, she would take the bait.
Both girls' power wove its way through the forest till suddenly both girls felt themselves connect. Both laughed silently, thinking that this would be over soon.
Eris was the first to move. Not wasting any time, she put away her staff, and quickly shot through the undergrowth, heading towards Selena. Slowly she sensed her sisters’ powers disappear and waited for another sign that would tell her where she was hiding and continued to search.
Hidden behind a tree Selena waited for the right moment to move. As soon as Eris entered into her vision she was ready to put her plan into motion. With all other senses hidden so she wouldn’t be detected, she sped up her heartbeat and pushed the sound a bit further away from herself for Eris to find.
When Eris had a hard time finding Selena she decided to take it slow like her master had instructed, so she stopped in her tracks and concentrated so she could find her. She opened up all her senses and began searching for her sister.
From Selena’s end she realized that her plan was beginning to work, Eris was using her powers to locate herself and it wouldn’t be long until she would let her full plan go into effect.
Eris smirked when she picked up Selena’s heartbeat meaning she was close by and took off in her direction. As Eris got close she stopped and looked around, that’s when she spotted Selena near a tree. When Selena noticed her sister looking at her she took off running. Eris moved incredibly fast as her sister gave chase.
Eris finally found her as she stood in the middle of a field holding her sword out to the side, with her bangs covering her eyes. She carefully made her way towards her sister while hiding her powers so that she wouldn’t detect her coming. Once Eris got to her location she stood in the tree and watched what her sister was going to do.
‘So she wants to sneak up on me does she?’ She asked herself as she now felt another presence there in the forest with them. She paid him no mind until he wanted to attack her. When Selena knew her sister was going to make a move, she jumped off in a different direction to get her off guard so she could attack.
Crouching in the tree Eris watched what her sister was doing. She stood as she got herself ready for when she would attack, then suddenly Selena jumped off in another direction. Confused, Eris was about to follow when she hears her sister speak from behind her.
“I knew you were there Eris. I wonder though, were you too afraid to attack me?” She asked smirking as she walked out from behind a tree and walked towards her.
“Not in the least. I don’t attack people when their backs are turned.” She replied as she turned and faced her.
That was when Eris leaped at Selena quickly drawing her weapon in the process, but Selena was quicker and she blocked her attack with an attack of her own. Sending Eris back about 20 feet. Eris then went back into a defensive stance with her eyes trained on her sisters’ obvious body language, not realizing that that was Selena’s plan all along.
Selena then thought it was time to put the rest of her plan into motion, and she shifted her weight to the right before putting away her sword and drawing out her own small staff. Selena’s staff though was different than Eris’s had been hers was pen-sized and had a small blade at the end of it and at her touch grew three times bigger. With Selena’s staff ready, Eris got her own staff out and waited.
“Is that all you’ve got sister, I thought you were stronger than that?” Eris said slowly walking towards Selena.
“Oh I am stronger Eris; I’m not done quite yet,” Selena said as she shifted her weight again before racing to strike Eris with her weapon.
Eris had knocked her strike away, and in return took back out her sword, jumped at Selena, and attacked with her sword, knocking her to the ground. Selena growled and jumped up quickly. Noticing the look on Eris’s face she knew that her plan was working. With a fancy movement, she put back her staff and brought out her sword.
“What’s wrong sister am I that strong that you can’t even land a blow against me? “ Eris asked.
“Ha, you’re not that strong Eris, you just wait and see,” Selena replied growling.
“You know, I noticed something that I never noticed before.” She said circling her sister.
“Oh yeah, what’s that dear sister?” Selena asked smirking, folding her arms while following her sister's movements around her.
“It’s your stance.” She replied watching her sister’s reaction. When she didn‘t give away anything she continued. “That was an impressive stance, but you need to keep your actions to yourself. Forget all of your emotions and don’t give away your plan of attack with your body movements.” She said as she continued to circle Selena
“Is that what you think I’m doing?” Replied Selena.
“It’s not what I think, it’s what I’m seeing. “ She said back.
That’s all Selena needed to finally win the training session, she growled in response and smirked before facing Eris. This time with her eyes drained of all emotions, leaving her looking upon Eris with cold uncaring orbs.
“If that’s the way you want it, sister, then so be it.” She growled out to her sister and began glowing and began increasing in power.
“What’s going on, where is she getting so much power from?” She asked herself. “How did you get so much power so quickly?” She asked Selena.
“Awe, what’s wrong Eris, you seem scared?” She asked as the glow died down. “Like I explained to you earlier Eris, you have underestimated me and my powers, and for that, you shall not be the victor.” She continued while starting to circle Eris.
"I assure you sister; I will not lose to the likes of you.” She said while following Selena’s movements.
“Don’t be so sure about that.” She growled out while preparing for Eris’s attack.
Eris growled, quickly jumped into a tree, and shot a lightning orb at Selena, but Selena used her powers and disappeared leaving no trace of herself. Eris was about to climb out of the tree when a dagger was thrown at her. She dodged it, however, leaving her with a long cut on her arm. She jumped down and looked to see Selena standing against another tree with her arms folded waiting for her.
“Damn you, Selena.” She growled out.
“What? Am I too much for you Eris, surely you can do better than that?” She replied smirking.
Very quickly Eris began racing at her full force and Selena got ready to intercept the attack and crouched down low. When Eris was about to strike her, she jumped up with her sword by her side as she brought it forward, but to Eris’s surprise when she was about to attack Selena, she flipped back avoiding her attack. Eris growled and swung again, but when she did Selena had disappeared.
Eris looked around to see her running towards her. Before she could move out of the way Selena tackled her to the floor. She tried pushing her off, but Selena made her powers known by forming a small blue orb above her head ready to attack, but Selena stopped and spoke.
“What now Eris? You have nothing left to try against me.” She said calmly, as Eris struggled under her. “Just give up Eris; you have no chance of beating me.” She growled out softly.
“I will not lose to you, Selena.” With that, she tried to escape by disappearing, but Selena was one step ahead and used her powers to prevent her from disappearing.
“Not going to work Eris…” She began as she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand at attention indicating danger, she raised her head slightly trying to determine what it was she was sensing.
Suddenly she felt the other person’s presence coming towards them at very fast speeds; she had determined long ago that it was their brother Armon. Selena quickly put up her sword to intercept the attack just as he came to bring his sword down.
While Selena was occupied with their brother, Eris saw her chance and disappeared from underneath Selena.
Selena growled lowly as she drew her attention to her brother and she quickly turned and flung him away from her. She was barely breathing hard as she brought her sword forward and took a defensive position. She kept her senses open to see when he would attack, but there in the back of her mind she felt her sisters’ presence. She was attempting to hiding and was keeping her distance from herself at the moment. From what she could tell she was up in the sky watching everything she was doing.
“Well she can watch and learn all she wants, I just have to keep my senses open and make sure she doesn’t attack me unnoticed.” She said to herself.
Selena was watching and waiting as he charged at her. When he was close enough to her she brought her sword up and then slashes out in front of her calling. Kenatsu! A storm of her powers came out of the sword as it moved in to attack him, but before it reached him she heard him call out Soryuha! Their attacks went towards the other to meet in the middle of the field in battle for dominance until their powers exploded.
With Selena’s eyes on her target, she had her back to Eris, and that was the perfect opportunity Eris needed to attack her. She charged thinking that she had the upper hand in the fight as she came up behind her. She pulled her claws back and brought her arm down ready to slash at Selena, but Selena was quicker and she turned and grabbed Eris’s hand, flinging her about thirty feet away. Selena quickly turned around and jumped towards Eris knocking her back to the floor, and holding her in the same position as she had before.
“I tire of this sister, just give up. You have nothing left.” She said breathing heavy.
Just then the hair on the back of Selena’s neck started to stand up again. She turned as she saw her brother coming towards her with his arm raised. She didn’t have enough time to move out of the way so she summoned her powers and held up her hand to protect herself. When her brother’s hand came down it made contact with the ball of light that was coming from Selena’s hand and burned him.
“You will never defeat me,” Eris said as she noticed that her sister was getting tired, knowing this time she couldn’t stop her from disappearing, so Eris used her powers once again and disappeared from underneath Selena.
Selena growled at her sister for disappearing from her again as she stood up. Eris laughed as she took back out her sword, and took a step back facing Selena once again, this time striking quickly. Having barely enough time to dodge, she leaped to the left and struck out with her sword. Eris leaped to the right and faced Selena again. This time Eris’s eyes were focused on Selena’s body language, before striking again.
This time expecting a sudden attack, Selena uses her sword and blocked the attack, then using her free hand to shoot Eris with an orb. Eris reacted faster than Selena and used her own powers to block the orb from hitting her. Both women faced each other, and both were glaring into each other’s eyes.
Selena was beginning to weaken, but she couldn’t give on that she was, because it would give her brother the chance to attack her. Eris leaped and held both a sword in her right hand and an orb readied to be fired in the left. After a while of standing Selena used her own powers and pushed Eris across the forest.
“That was really good Selena, but now it’s time for you to die,” Eris said readying her claws.
“I don’t think so Eris you, and our brother are the ones who will die by my hands.” She replied getting her own attack ready. Selena leaped towards Eris and was shocked when she did a backflip away from her. Selena used the velocity to leap forward and used her sword to strike again.
Off to the side, Armon was watching what his sisters were doing, and thought it was time to test them so he leaped towards them to attack. As he headed towards his sisters to attack them, Selena erected a barrier so he couldn‘t interfere with the fight.
When he was about to try and breakthrough it, Selena got the break she needed to attack Armon with both her blades. Thinking fast, with her other hand she brought forth another orb and fired it at Eris and she flew back a few feet and then turned to attack Armon head-on with her blades. They collided with each other pushing the other to the max as they both pulled away and retreated about five feet away from each other.
Selena and Armon started to move around in circles, trying to find an opening to their opponent’s defenses so they could attack. When Armon thought he found an opening he moved in and swung his sword to attack and his sister countered, blocking his sword, but quickly moving behind him for an attack of her own but missed as he quickly jumped out of the way.
Selena then turned her attention to Eris as she was quickly moving towards her. Both of them used their hands to bring forth their orbs. Both of them used the weight of the other to do a backflip away from each other and at the same time, they both sent the orbs at each other. Selena landed quickly after she let her orb fly, and quickly leaped again to attack Eris unexpectedly.
As the smoke disappeared Eris noticed that Selena was nowhere to be seen. Then she noticed it Selena had come up behind her and struck her in the shoulder. Armon then moved in and swung his sword to attack. Selena countered with an attack of her own sending her brother across the field with Eris joining him.
Armon and Eris then jumped up together and countered with an attack of their own, but Selena was quicker. She countered, blocking both of their swords, but quickly moved behind Eris to take her out first. Shouting her attack she flung Eris too far away from her to get back and she turned to Armon and quickly attacked flinging him to the ground bringing her sword to his neck declaring Selena the winner.
After the training was over for the day, the forest suddenly disappeared, and there stood Dahirra with a smile on her face. “Very, very good Selena, you’ve learned a lot, but you still have a lot to learn before the competition.”
“I agree.” He said as he got up, turned, and walked off.
“Shall we keep training then, master?” Selena asked out of breath as Eris came and stood next to her.
“We are finished for today girls, go and get some rest, you did well today.” She replied with a smile.
“Thank you, master.” Both girls said as they bowed to their master, turned, and headed to their quarters.
